Shuǐ Guǐ

    Origin: Chinese

Shuǐ guǐ are the spirits of people who drowned. Tied to the place where they lost their life, they frequently try to drown passers-by so that they make take the person's body and live their life. The spirit of the newly killed person then takes the place of the shuǐ guǐ until some new unfortunate wanders by and the process repeats itself.
